Prof Bulstrode was the attending Doctor on an Aeromed flight that my wife unfortunately died on. Due to a set of circumstances too complex to go into my wife had been receiving little or no medical care until the arrival of the Aeromed team. When they arrived it was like a breath of fresh air, they gave my wife the care and dignity she had been missing and made her last few hours bearable. More than this, because of the treatment they gave my wife, we were able to spend her last night talking together, something for which I will be eternally grateful. When my wife suffered a cardiac arrest due to a Pulmonary Embolism there was nothing that could be done to save her but this did not stop the Doctor making Herculean efforts to try and revive her. When it became obvious that nothing more could be done Prof Bulstrode exhibited the highest level of professionalism and understanding as well as making every effort to maintain my wife's dignity. The one comment I have is not in anyway a criticism of the Prof but rather a comment on the conditions he was working in on the aircraft. The layout of the aircraft with medicines and equipment stored behind and under seats meant they were not readily accessible, while this made no difference in the case of my wife on another occasion any delay could have tragic effects, therefore I urge that some effort is made to improve the ergonomics of the aircraft to provide more ready access to medicines and equipment in the future. Overall, while the death of my wife was tragic and a great personal loss I cannot praise or thank the Professor highly enough, he brought dignity and understanding to a hopeless situation and made my wife's last few hours amongst the best she had enjoyed in the previous few months.

My mother was admitted to the A & E Department of the JR Hospital where she was seen by Prof Bulstrode. She was in a confused state, but Prof Bulstrode managed to get across to my mother what he was doing and what he had arranged in the way of admission to to hospital for further tests. His manner was very reassuring.

I came in with a few small pieces of metal in my eye, He used a little humour to help ease my nerves, He explained very throughly what he was going to do and was through checking my eye after he had removed the pieces of metal to ensure he had got it all. Really nice guy and nice to find a doctor who actually connects with his patients. Thank you very much

Very friendly and helpful, took time to explain things to my daughter and her younger brother. He made us feel like we were important and gave us time i.e. didn't rush us on to deal with the next patient unlike what tends to happen at our local GP surgery.

Really friendly and helpful. Felt well looked after and confident in treatment. Slightly unclear on details so a little unsure of how long my injury will take to heal. But overall very good. Surprised to get such good experience in A&E.
